Can I place one ad that advertises multiple different job titles?

Sorry, only one job title per ad. A job ad for 'various job title positions' is not permitted ~ jobs must be inputted as individual jobs ads. By doing this, you also ensure maxium effectiveness through our feeds, social media, and search algorithms.

I'm having trouble posting a job with Internet Explorer 9

We are experiencing some issues with Internet Explorer 9. If you are having trouble, please email us at nature {at} workcabin {.ca} so we can assist you in posting your job ad.

We’re a small organization. Can we post our job for free?

No, we do not offer free job posting. We do offer a deeply discounted posting rate ($35 per standard job ad) for nonprofits and an affordable $55 (standard job ad) for commercial clients and government agencies. We invest and continually re-invest to build a service that offers superior value compared to low-tech sites that make little or no investment and operate on a free or pay-what-you-can basis. We also purposely keep our rates lower than other comparable, professional-level job sites. This ensures that even the smallest organizations can afford to post environmental and green jobs with us and use progressive tools to attract the right candidates.

What is the EcoTalent Optimizer?

The EcoTalent Optimizer helps you pre-screen applicants. It enables employers to set a series of questions that applicants must answer. Applicants who successfully answer your qualifying questions will have their resumes forwarded to you. (Applicants who do not answer all questions successfully are still viewable by logging into your WorkCabin account.) The EcoTalent Optimizer is a unique tool that allows you to avoid a common problem associated with many low-tech job boards that flood employers with unqualified applicants.

How do we view the results of candidates sourced through the EcoTalent Optimizer?

The EcoTalent Optimizer automatically forwards 'passing' grade applicants' resumes and cover letters to the email address you specify. To view the scores of all applicants who have applied, simply log in to your WorkCabin account. Click the orange SCREEN APPLICANTS tab to be directed to your EcoTalent Optimizer results page. You can further manage applicants from this page.

We paid online for a job posting with a credit card and didn't receive a receipt. Can we get one?

Our online payment gateway automatically sends a transaction receipt to your account email address. If you cannot locate this email, please check your spam folder. If you are still having trouble, please contact us at billing(at)workcabin.ca.

I cut and pasted my job ad into your system and the spacing and fonts look funny.

If you cut and paste from a Word document or PDF, your fonts, sizing and spacing may be affected. This is a common issue across many platforms when cutting and pasting from Word. If you have any trouble, try cutting and pasting your job ad from your Word document onto a Notepad file and then pasting into our system. Alternatively, use our WYSIWYG editor to adjust spacing, add bullets, etc.

Can we look at WorkCabin's resume database?

Employers who post on WorkCabin get unlimited access to our resume database of environmental professionals for the duration of their job posting. Not a member? Register today.

We posted a standard job ad recently and would now like to have it bumped up to be a Featured Job Ad. Can we do this?

Yes. Contact us at billing@workcabin.ca. If you have already received your invoice for the standard job ad, we will issue a separate invoice for a Featured Job Ad and move your ad to be Featured and appear at the top of our job listings. (Featured status is an additional $35 (nonprofit) or $55 (commercial, government, for-profit) rate + GST/HST.

Can I pay online when posting a job ad?

Yes. We offer the option of using our secure, onsite, online payment process. You remain on WorkCabin throughout the online payment process. You can pay online using MasterCard or Visa. If you would rather be invoiced, you can select this method and we will email you an invoice to pay by cheque.  Note: If you decide after receiving an emailed invoice that you would like to pay online, log in to your account and click the orange INVOICES tab. Enter your invoice number and we will send you an online payment link, usually within 24-48 hrs.

In the Employer Directory, how come our organization's title doesn't link to our organization's profile?

To have an active profile for job seekers to view, you must upgrade to our In-Depth Branded Profile page. This will allow you to create descriptions of WorkPlace Perks, FAQs, Q&As, add your logo, key social media links, have all of your job postings on your custom page, manage applicants, etc. You can upgrade to a Branded Profile Page from your account management area.

What's the difference between the Account email address and the Contact email address that I enter in my profile?

The Account email is the email address we use to send all system emails to. For example, if you choose to accept applications through WorkCabin's online apply procedure, this is the email address you would receive applications to (Note: When you post a job, you also have the option to enter a different email address for receiving applications). For your Account email, we recommend using a general email address (ie. careers@abccompany.com). Your Contact email address is for our internal office use only. We use this if we need to personally correspond with you re: billing, etc.

When applicants apply online through WorkCabin, where are the resumes sent?

When job applicants utilize WorkCabin.ca's online application procedure, resumes and (possibly) cover letters will be sent to the email address you have specified in your account, as well as the email address you can select when you create your job ad. The resumes that you receive will come to you as a templated WorkCabin.ca resume

We want all resumes to come only via WorkCabin's online apply system. We do not want to publish our mailing address or email address in our job ad. How do we ensure this?

You may receive applications in 3 ways (choose any or all of the apply options you wish to use). One of the options is to use WorkCabin's online application procedure; this will route applicants' resumes from our database to the email address specified in your employer account information, as well as the email address you choose when creating your job ad.

What options are available for how we accept resumes?

When you post your job ad, you can choose the method(s) you wish. We offer 3 options: 1) You can use a traditional Apply To method; you choose what contact information you would like to display (contact name, full address, phone number, email address, fax, requested documents, etc). 2) You can choose WorkCabin's online application procedure; resumes and cover letters will be sent to the email address you specify. The resumes that you receive will come to you as a templated WorkCabin.ca resume. 3) You can have applicants redirected to your own website and apply to the position from your own applicant tracking system.

We're a recruiting firm. How do we create an account?

Create a separate account for each organization that you are recruiting for. This is beneficial because you will have an entry for each organization in our Employer Directory. It also means that you can add our optional HR tools and solutions to each organization's profile page as needed. When you create your account as an 'employer', use the Profile area fields for your contact name, and contact email. However, in the company name and details fields that follow, we recommend that you input the organization that you are recruiting for, because this information forms the basis of each entry in our Employer Directory and will be displayed to candidates if you upgrade to a Branded Employer Page.

Our balanced approach to logos ensures optimal website performance for all users.

What is the WorkCabin Job Widget?

The WorkCabin Job Widget is a customizable tool we've designed to help organizations or anyone interested in having environmental jobs and green jobs on their own website. What's extra special for organizations is that you can customize the widget to only show your job listings, and then cut and paste the HTML onto your own site. It's like having an instant job board on your site, showing only your jobs, or environmental jobs in general.

Why are the advantages of using an in-depth branded profile page?

The business of hiring has changed. Savvy employers know they have to go beyond a job posting to attract the best candidates. Today, candidates are scrutinizing organizations just as much as vice versa. Candidates want to find organizations that match their values, purpose and offer a great work environment. By using an in-depth branded profile page, you can talk up your organization's workplace perks and what makes you a great place to work.
