Job Purpose:
Reporting directly to the president, as the lead scientist, you will provide technical expertise and leadership to assist in building and developing the team as well as the company.
Responsibilities:

Grow / develop / supervise / mentor and coach a team of interdisciplinary scientists / ecologists and other technical personnel
- Project management, proposal preparation, development of cost quotes and preparation and delivery of technical presentations.
- Identify and assess business development opportunities, working with the president on the growth strategy for the company

Manage project teams and provide technical support on environmental investigations including biophysical investigations, environmental impact assessments, pre-disturbance assessments, conservation and reclamation plans, ecological modeling, integrated resource management planning and related scopes of work

Liaison with clients, regulators, sub-consultants and sub-contractors
- Technical report writing and review.
- Planning, inspection, management and implementation of field programs
- Responsible for overall quality assurance and quality control of team work.

Graduate of a recognized university with a degree directly related to environmental engineering, geoscience, environmental science or biology; equivalent level of experience may be considered; Masters or PhD degree would be considered an asset

Professional designation with a recognized professional association.

Minimum of 7-10 years of related experience, preferably with some consulting experience in Western Canada.

Considerable knowledge and familiarity with the environmental industry in Western Canada, particularly in Alberta.

Knowledge of and experience with environmental legislation and regulatory agencies (i.e.: ERCB, NEB, CEAA, and AEW).

Experience with local ecosystems, understanding of local ecology and related project work.

Map, survey plan and air photo interpretation experience.

A strong personal network of contacts within the Energy sector in Alberta would be considered an asset.
