Funded by Canada Summer Jobs (10 weeks; 35 hrs/week @ $10.25/hour)

The Long Point Region Conservation Authority invites applications for an Outdoor Education Assistant at Backus Heritage Conservation Area. The successful candidate will assist the Outdoor Educator in the development and delivery of all recreational and educational conservation programs and tours for a diverse client base. The Programs and tours center around the Conservation Education Centre. The student will also be responsible for program planning, activity scheduling, record keeping and management of program sites and equipment.

Responsibilities:
·    Assist in the delivery and development of curriculum-based education programs’;
·    Assist with the development of new interpretive programs and materials;
·    Assist with programming and special events for the general public including demonstrations, day camps, hikes, and illustrated talks;
·    Provide excellent customer and client services;
·    Assist with the preparation of reports and statistics as needed;
·    Evening and weekend work required.

Qualifications:

·    Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada, be a resident of Ontario and be between the ages 15 and 30;
·    Registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
·    Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively in a team framework;
·    Ideally, the student will be studying Environmental Science, Geography or related field with an emphasis in Resources Management. An interest in teaching is also helpful.
·    Must be able to provide a satisfactory police record check.
