Reporting to the Director of Planning and Engineering, you will be responsible for various technical, analytical and data processing tasks in the general area of water resources engineering.
SUMMARY OF MAJOR TASKS:
- Perform a wide range of technical tasks related to hydrology, hydraulics, streamflow modeling, floodplain mapping, stormwater management and watershed management.
- You will collect and analyze relevant data and present engineering analyses using appropriate spreadsheet and GIS software.
- Make presentations to Board of Directors, Municipal Councils and the Public.
- You will also be involved in field surveys, report writing and other related activities and duties as assigned by your supervisor.
All duties must be performed in accordance with SNC Safety Policy and Procedures, as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
Location: This position will work out of the South Nation Conservation office in Finch, Ontario.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate with Technology Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Water Resources, Engineering or a related field with an emphasis on water resources.
- Proficient in HEC-RAS and/or similar software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Water resources experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of GIS is an asset.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.

As a Senior Aquatic/Fisheries Biologist and Project Manager with the Socio-environmental Group, you will help expand Klohn Crippen Berger’s (KCB) environmental consulting services and have the opportunity to work on a wide range of world-class projects alongside motivated and hardworking professionals committed to delivering high quality services.
This senior role will give you the opportunity to:
- provide leadership in fisheries and aquatic technical work including fisheries and aquatic resources sampling programs, baseline reports, impact assessments, environmental effects monitoring, statistical analysis, ecological restoration, habitat assessment and quantification, and habitat restoration and compensation planning
- participate in multi-disciplinary projects and work closely with biologists, hydrologists, ecologists, social scientists, engineers and other project specialists
- manage project approval processes
- write high quality reports including field reports, permit applications, regulatory documents, compensation plans, environmental impact assessments, management plans, etc.
- be involved in business development
- manage client interfaces and maintain key client relationships
- manage, mentor and train employees
- manage projects, budgets, schedules
- provide senior review and quality assurance and quality control
- travel domestically and internationally for field work
If you have a Bachelor or Masters degree in Aquatic/Fisheries Biology, are registered or able to register as a R.P. Bio, and have 15-20 years experience in environmental work in mining, oil sands, oil and gas, hydroelectric or other electricity generation, transportation, land development or municipal infrastructure, we want to hear from you.
