Habitat Enterprises | What We Do

Habitat Enterprises (“Habitat”) is a software firm based in Gastown, Vancouver. We build online software applications that solve environmental problems. Habitat has a four-year track record of creating innovative products in the environmental marketplace, including a number of firsts in environmental finance. Our products have been used by leading companies in both Canada & the USA, including Translink, Bloom Energy, and the Government of BC.

Habitat has recently developed and launched Gridbid (www.gridbid.com) - an online solar auction where building owners put their roofs up for “auction,” and solar companies to compete to install solar panels on their roof. Gridbid is opening up solar panel installation to organizations throughout North America.

Responsibilities | Communications Intern

The Communications Intern will be responsible for educating, engaging and inspiring Gridbid’s target audience using social media.

The Communications Intern will:

  • Spark and fuel online conversation / sharing about Gridbid
  • Analyze social media used by competitors
  • Customize and maintain Gridbid’s social media accounts ie. Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Google+
  • Analyze and report on the social networks our target market is using
  • Create and send communications materials to different customer groups
  • Manage customer relationships and reply to requests for information – both online and over the phone
  • Compile customer lead lists using databases and other online resources
  • Additional duties as required 

Qualifications:

Requirements

  • Highly passionate about working in a startup and using new technologies to solve environmental problems
  • Great communicator who is open to feedback and participating in discussions
  • 1+ years of experience with social media marketing (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+)
  • Highly polished English communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Previous customer support experience a plus
  • Reside in Vancouver, BC or neighboring areas (or willing to locate here during the internship)

 Renumeration

  • This is an unpaid internship. Interns have the possibility of ongoing employment with Habitat after the internship. All transit passes will be paid for by Habitat and the intern will receive a stipend of $500. 

 Logistics

  • Length of Internship: 3 months depending on the selected Intern’s availabilty.
  • Full or part-time, with a minimum of 3 days per week required and preference given to full-time
  • Location: Habitat’s gastown office. The office is a fun, bright, loft style space with close proximity to Gastown’s best restaurants and bars.
  •  Computer: use our workstations or your own. Everything else is provided.
