The Long Point Region Conservation Authority invites applications for a Heritage Events Assistant at Backus Heritage Conservation Area. The successful candidate will assist the Heritage Programmer/Curator in providing costumed interpretation of early life in Norfolk County in Backus Heritage Village.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in the operation of the museum;
· Assist with the handling and cataloguing of artifacts;
· Assist with programming and special events for the general public including demonstrations, day camps, tours, and costumed presentations;
· Provide excellent customer and client services;
· Some evening and weekend work is required.
· Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada, be a resident of Ontario and be between the ages 15 and 30;
· Registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
· Neat and tidy appearance;
· Creative and outgoing;
· Comfortable with public speaking;
· A drivers license and reliable vehicle is an asset;
· Must be able to provide a satisfactory police record check.

The Long Point Region Conservation Authority invites applications for a Recreation Programming Assistant at Backus Heritage Conservation Area. The successful candidate will report to the Heritage Programmer/Curator with research, development and implementation of summer day camp activities for children while working with camp leaders on program ideas and duties. This position provides excellent experience working with children and childhood education.

Bilingual Education Resource Interpreter (Contract)
Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) is a National Historic Site of Canada, featuring over 2,700 acres of breathtaking gardens and spectacular nature sanctuaries. We are currently seeking one (1) Bilingual (French/English) Education Resource Interpreter to develop and deliver interpretive and school programs and materials at RBG.
Reporting to the Manager, Customer Programs, these positions are responsible for planning and delivering captivating programming for people of all ages. They will develop new program content and update existing material, research and produce interpretive materials, signage and the tools needed to engage our visitors with meaningful messaging about our gardens, collections and nature sanctuaries. To accomplish this we require candidates with exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills who possess a sound knowledge and aptitude for subject matter relevant to RBG’s mandate (education, horticulture, natural lands and science).
The successful candidates will be university or college graduates in life or environmental sciences, education, museum studies, horticulture or other related field. Formal certification and/or training in education and/or natural, cultural heritage, and/or theatrical interpretation would be considered an asset, as would third language bilingual ability at a level suitable for public presentations and teaching. Must have an outgoing, people-oriented personality and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in visitor services. The successful candidate must be comfortable working with technology and be able to work effectively in MS Office. Must have valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle, and be willing to work a rotating five day evening/weekend/holiday schedule averaging 35 hours per week.
This position is a recurring 10-month contract coinciding with the school year (September – June).

Campground office workers

Whiskeyjack Park Service has held operational contracts in Algonquin Provincial Park for the past 14 seasons. Our program entails the issuing of park permits, administration, facility maintenance and enforcement of 800 campsites throught out the hwy 60 corridor.
Campground gate attendants are responsible for greeting customers, providing information on the services, facilities and programs offered in Algonquin Provincial Park. Other duties include assisting customers with problems, resolving issues, processing permit transactions, cash handling and daily balancing of transactions. Gate attendants may also be required to assist with maintenance activities in the campground which may include campsite clean up, grass cutting, janitorial services and painting.
Staff housing is available for staff at the rate of $119.42 per week, which includes room and board, 3 meals per day . Food is provided during the morning period so that boxed lunches can be prepared. Late dinners are also available for staff working evening shifts. Staff house facitities are operated by Ontario Parks.
Pay rate is $ 11.75 per hour plus 4% vacation pay,40 hours per week during peak season (mid june until labour day).

- Ability to work independantly as well as in a team environment
- Work irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Current first aid and C.P.R an asset
