Natural Resource Solutions Inc. (NRSI) is an environmental consulting firm based out of Waterloo, Ontario, with offices also in Alberta and Saskatchewan.  Our staff is comprised of terrestrial, wetland and aquatic biologists with expertise in the identification and management of significant and sensitive natural species and their habitats, as well as G.I.S. specialists and administrative staff.  NRSI provides a range of services in the following areas:

·      Vegetation & Wildlife Ecology
·      Fisheries & Aquatic Biology
·      Wetland Studies
·      Naturalization & Ecological Restoration
·      Woodlot & Tree Studies

·      Renewable Energy Assessments

·      Construction Environmental Monitoring

·      Environmental Impact Assessment/Environmental Assessments

We have an opening for a Certified Arborist / Field Biologist based out of our Waterloo office, with travel to project sites throughout Ontario.  This is a full-time contract position with an anticipated starting date of April 1, 2019, for a period of 7 months (with the possibility of extension).

The successful candidate must be a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and should have skills and experience in the following:

·         Conducting tree inventories and health assessments in rural and/or urban settings;

·         Extensive native and ornamental tree identification skills;

·         Preparing Arborist Reports / Tree Preservation Plans;

·         Conducting biological field surveys, specifically vegetation inventories and mapping of vegetation communities;

·         Applying Ecological Land Classification (ELC) and/or the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES);

·         Identifying avifauna, herpetofauna and mammal species, as well as experience conducting surveys using standard survey protocols;

·         Working and being outdoors for extended periods of time, in a variety of conditions;

·         Willingness to work irregular hours on occasion (evenings, early mornings, holidays, weekends);

·         Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work;

·         A keen interest in the natural environment and desire to pursue a career in this field, and

·         An ability to work as part of a team, or individually with minimal supervision.

Closing Date for the position application is February 25, 2019.

Position Type – Full-time contract (minimum 35 hours per week)
Duration – Approximately April 1, 2019 to October 31, 2019 with possibility for extension
Location – Waterloo (field work throughout Ontario)
Key Requirements – ISA Certified Arborist, A valid driver’s license, Flora and/or fauna ID skills

Salary – Commensurate on experience
