The Long Point Region Conservation Authority invites

applications for the following seasonal positions:

 

CONSERVATION AREA SEASONAL SUPERVISOR

(Deer Creek CA, Haldimand CA, Norfolk CA and Waterford North CA)

(Starting salary $22.20/hour, 40 hrs/week)

 

The Conservation Area Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance, operation and minor development of the Conservation Area to which he/she is assigned.  The position will be that of a working supervisor and will report to the Manager of Conservation Land Services.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist the field staff assigned to the Conservation Area, organizing and allocating personnel to specific duties and shifts and maintaining all time sheets
  • Control the use of the area through the enforcement of the Conservation Area Regulations and any other policies or guidelines as set forth by the Authority
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the Conservation Area and generally responsible for the safety of all staff and the general public in the area
  • Supervise and administer the proper collection of user fees accruing to the Conservation Area and accounting to the Manager of Corporate Services for all such revenues
  • Open and close all gates and facilities on the Area, and complete regular patrols of the Area to control vandalism, poaching and other such damage
  • Supervise and assist with all sanitary maintenance on the Area, such as cleaning the washrooms and collection of garbage
  • Arrange for the safe storage, proper maintenance and accurate record keeping of all water systems, gasoline, supplies, machinery and equipment as may be specifically assigned to the Area
  • Recommend the placement of equipment and addition of new inventory required on the Conservation Area
  • Supervise and assist the Authority Field staff with the development, maintenance and operation of any of the Authority’s conservation projects as assigned
  • Provide quality customer service
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in the use of all types of equipment required in the development, maintenance and operation of a Conservation Area/camping facility
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and direct work programs
  • Supervisory leadership and administrative skills
  • Computer skills required
  • Cash handling experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records of revenue and expenditures
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS
  • Knowledge of Conservation Area Regulations, Policies and Procedures associated with park management an asset
  • Satisfactory Police Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, and drivers abstract required
  • Must be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver’s licence (class ‘G’) and personal vehicle
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification an asset

Starting date: April 15, 2019                              Ending date:  October 25, 2019
