The Long Point Region Conservation Authority

is accepting applications for a day camp leader – conservation and Heritage education (3 positions)

Pending funding approval by Canada Summer Jobs (approx. 8 weeks @ $14.00/hour)

 

The Long Point Region Conservation Authority is seeking applications for Day Camp Leader – Conservation and Heritage Education at Backus Heritage Conservation Area. The successful candidate will assist the Outdoor Educator and Curator in the development and delivery of the day camp programs for children.

 

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be between the ages 16 and 30
  • Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has be conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work according to Ontario legislation and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Ideally, will be studying or have graduated from Environmental Sciences, History, Museum Studies or related field. An interest in teaching is also helpful
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively in a team framework
  • Must have an interest in working with children
  • Outgoing personality and excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with children an asset
  • Experience with customer service, and leading or organizing tours, presentations, or recreational programming in a paid employment or volunteer setting an asset
  • Must be able to provide a satisfactory police record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • A drivers license and reliable vehicle is an asset

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the research, development and delivery of all day camp programming
  • Assist in the planning of activities based on themes, provide material lists and facilitate programming
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of program areas and equipment
  • Keep accurate record of all relevant statistics
  • Evening and weekend work is required

 

Term of Employment:

 

Approximate start/end date: July 2, 2019 to August 23, 2019
