Job Description

Job Purpose

  • To create fantastic, memorable experiences for visitors to the Rockies
  • To guide up to 24 guests on interpretive sightseeing tours
  • To provide transportation services within Banff and western Canada

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a variety of fun, informative tours
  • Provide transportation services to and from Calgary and in the local area
  • Manage groups as they visit sites and attractions
  • Tell engaging stories about the natural and cultural heritage of the area
  • Assist with the running of teambuilding events and activity programs
  • Walk with guests on short nature walks and to scenic attractions
  • Operate 24 passenger mini-buses, 12 passenger sprinter vans, SUV’s and sedans in a safe, legal, and comfortable manner
  • Perform vehicle inspections
  • Perform associated administrative duties
  1. Maintain vehicle and driver electronic log books as per regulations
  2. Communicate to managers and supervisors on tour successes and challenges
  • Up-sell products
  • Assist in keeping vehicles clean
  • Assist in operational tasks connected to the guiding industry
  • Use of electronic devices (smart phones, mac computers to communicate and to adhere to company policies and procedures)
  • Represent the company in a professional manner
  • Other tasks as requested by manager/supervisors

Working conditions

  • Driving 24 passenger mini buses, as well as sedans, SUV’s and 12 passenger sprinter vans
  • Working in all weather conditions, spending time outdoors
  • Visiting various attractions in Banff, and western Canada
  • Opportunities may be presented where you sleep away from the home base of Banff, Alberta, particularly if you begin guiding multi-day tours that take you outside of Banff and the local area
  • Working various shift work. Tours and transfer services are offered 7 days a week and throughout the morning, day and evening
  • Winter Season: December 1 to April 20
  • Summer Season April 15 to October 31

Physical requirements

  • Operate 24 passenger mini-buses in a safe, legal and comfortable manner
  • Guide safe on trail excursions and follow leave no trace principles
  • Operate tour programs in all weather conditions
  • Lift luggage, skis, tour guiding equipment (bags weighing up to 50lbs)
