Accounting Associate – Accounts Receivables
The Accounting Associate – Accounts Receivables (“AR”) works with the Assistant Controller performing a variety of accounting tasks including processing, compliance, communicating, analysis and reporting with a heavy focus on accounts receivables. The Accounting Associate – AR is charged with providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities
· Process all invoicing, grant, contributions and earned revenues transactions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, efficiency and compliance with financial policies, agreement covenants and accounting standards.
· Input and allocate appropriately receipts including cheques, EFTs, wire payments, deposits into the financial system.
· Reconcile CRM to Financial system on a periodic basis and resolving any discrepancies arising.
· Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of GL entries allocating revenues and incoming receipts to appropriate revenue, deferred and project accounts.
· Prepare and analyse A/R aged analysis and statistics.
· Understand, investigate, and resolve invoicing, AR and collection issues, escalating any risks or issues to management
· Generate and issue reports to program leads
· Prepare bank deposits and post bank transactions in the General Ledger
· Assists with preparation of monthly and year end adjustments and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Assist with the preparation of year-end audit files and auditors’ inquiries.
· Maintain complete and accurate electronic records of all supporting documentation related to accounts receivables
· Efficiently and professionally respond to all internal and external telephone/email inquiries and follow up on outstanding invoices.
· Conduct various accounting analysis and reconciliations, with the ability to translate data into meaningful recommendations.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Controller or Senior Director, Finance.
Education
· Post-secondary education in Accounting, or equivalent experience
· An Accounting designation would be considered an asset and would increase the range of compensation available
Skills and Experience
· 2 years or more of relevant work experience in the accounts receivable function in a not-for-profit environment
· Experience with donation receipts is a strong asset
· Demonstrated understanding of revenue recognition, Deferred revenue and G/L reconciliations and experience in preparing journal entries
· Proficiency with Financial Edge accounting software is an asset
· Sound analytical skills in relation to numerical data
· Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Ability to consistently meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
· Ability to handle a high volume of work and prioritize work received from multiple sourcesz
Location
Ideally this position will be based on site at our National Headquarters in beautiful Port Rowan, Ontario. Remote and remote/hybrid work models are available for the right candidate.
