Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, Bilingual (English & French) Communications Coordinator to enhance external communications and lead engagement efforts for our Youth Eco-Stewards Project. This role will focus on engaging youth and communities across Canada in invasive species prevention and stewardship. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for analyzing, developing, and implementing bilingual communication and promotion strategies, identifying awareness needs, and creating targeted outreach materials, initiatives, and events. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital media, bilingual content creation, and youth engagement. Additionally, this role will seek opportunities to promote CCIS to new partners and position CCIS as the national voice on invasive species in Canada.
Responsibilities and Duties:
– Manage and enhance all CCIS digital media including social media, email, and web. This includes maintaining and updating CCIS’s youth program social media channels in both English and French.
– Develop and implement strategies for promoting the CCIS Youth Eco-Stewards project.
– Create and distribute communication resources such as factsheets, newsletters, and rack cards.
– Research and implement innovative communication tactics for engaging diverse target audiences.
– Write, edit, and publish bilingual press releases and other media content.
– Evaluate the success of various communication strategies and implement recommendations for improvement.
– Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to produce bilingual marketing collateral aligned with CCIS brand messaging.
– Maintain and manage active membership lists and email campaigns.
– Develop and manage quarterly newsletter and bi-weekly updates.
– Support project and report writing, as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
– Fluent in English and French (written and spoken) – required.
– At least 2 years of experience in communications, digital media, or a related field.
– Strong writing and editing skills in both languages.
– Experience managing social media channels (such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Bluesky).
– Strong organizational skills and project management skills.
– Excellent bilingual communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of interested parties.
– Basic graphic design and video editing skills.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
– A positive and energetic attitude.
Other relevant skills not required but considered an asset:
– Experience working with youth programs or environmental initiatives.
– Experience engaging youth in Indigenous communities.
– Knowledge of invasive species and/or stewardship.
– Experience with event coordination.
