Participant Support Specialist
Physical Disability Inclusion
Location: Work-from-home anywhere in Canada
Position Overview:
With respect to the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s (CWF’s) youth educational programs across Canada, the Participant Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the inclusion of all participants and alumni, and where needed, to initiate changes in the setting that will support each participant’s inclusion and participation. A strong focus will be on the inclusion and accommodation of participants with varying physical disabilities, as well as providing opportunities to access supportive services. Duties include but are not limited to providing support for participants needing accommodation, help staff understand concerns, identify youth at risk, coordinate appropriate interventions, and work with community members and partners. The Participant Support Specialist is also required to maintain confidentiality and professionally interact with employees, management and the public. Other duties shall be assigned as necessary.

Job Duties
- Confer with staff and management to identify participant needs, duties, and skills.
- Encourage, motivate, and support inclusive youth participation.
- Ensure outings are managed to ensure accommodation needs are fulfilled.
- Educate team on participant needs and notify team of any problems or concerns that may arise.
- Search for opportunities to build inclusive capacity within communities across Canada.
- Surveying participants and caregivers on activities and suggestions.
- Identify youth at risk for disengagement, absenteeism, and other factors that limit ability to participate.
- Ensure excellent communication with participants, caregivers, and staff to ensure all necessary registration forms and communication forms are completed.
- Assist in creation and promotion of conservation education programs run by the CWF.
- Conduct research and implement programs to engage with under-represented youth.
- Ensure diverse participation in impact assessments, proposals, and developments for long-term projects.
- Create promotional activities for the organization.
- Assist in holding meetings to find out what communities need.
- Prepare presentations on conservation education for under-represented youth.
- Other duties shall be assigned as required.
Requirements
- Post-Secondary education in Education, Psychology, Special Education, Sociology or in related field, required.
- Secondary School Diploma required.
- 1-3 years working experience with adolescents and adults between ages 15-30 in similar role preferred.
- Proven working experience with people with physical disabilities.
- Expertise in outdoor programming for youth is preferred.
- Experience providing accommodations and identifying risks.
- Standard First Aid CPR certified or willing to be certified.
- Located near airport with reasonable connections across Canada, or willingness to relocate on own expense.
- Must have a valid Police Record check with Vulnerable Sectors check completed in the last 6 months, or willing to complete.

Work Conditions
- Full-time, contract until March 31, 2022 with possibility of extension.
- Work from home position.
- Travel throughout Canada as required.
- Interacts with participants, their parents/guardians, various staff and management levels, and the public at large.
- Overtime may be required.
