Who are we and what is CIRODD?
The École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) is part of the Université du Québec network. Specializing in teaching and applied research in engineering and technology transfer, it trains engineers and researchers recognized for their practical and innovative approach. Ideally located in the Griffintown district at the junction of Old Montreal and downtown, ÉTS is within walking distance of Lucien-Lallier and Bonaventure metro stations.
The Interdisciplinary Research Centre for the Operationalization of Sustainable Development (CIRODD) is a Strategic Cluster funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ-NT/SC). Its mission is to accelerate the transformation of society in order to support socio-ecological transition through sustainable innovation and transdisciplinarity. The CIRODD, therefore, aims to catalyze, enlighten, advise, mobilize and support decision-makers and actors of the society in making decisions based on the best available scientific evidence.
More details about your role
The person responsible for strategic partnerships consolidates and cultivates the network of CIRODD research members and partners and contributes to the national and international influence of CIRODD and the mobilization of knowledge. To this end, she/he maintains a vast network of mutual trust in the scientific and practical fields of sustainable development (SD), environment, innovation, management and business, industry, communications, etc.; occasionally represents the CIRODD with influencing entities (scientific or in the field); creates local and international partnerships; helps identify themes of societal transformation and transdisciplinary subjects; initiates new projects to accelerate the socio-ecological transition; coordinates and synergizes projects with strategic partners; and conducts strategic breakthroughs on certain cutting-edge topics.
Act as a resource person for strategic projects:
- Initiate and contribute to the development of strategic projects;
- Perform an advisory role to the general director on strategic and key activities of CIRODD, including communications related to the group activities.
Consolidate and cultivate the network of CIRODD members and partners:
- Contribute to the development of collaborative projects between CIRODD research members, partners, and actors in the field on specific themes;
- Identify opportunities for both national and international partnerships, coordinate and draft partnership and collaboration letters, and develops, if applicable, a funding strategy for these collaborations, according to the needs of the project;
- Coordinate the joint steering committee (COM) and ensures the consistency of the work;
- Represent CIRODD on the various partner committees.
Contribute to the influence of CIRODD and the mobilization of knowledge:
- Initiate and support activities to mobilize scientific and field knowledge, including transfer;
- Be actively involved in the preparation of events related to strategic projects and more generally, in terms of the co-creation of collective intelligence processes;
- Offer scientific advice to field organizations when required;
- Participate in research democratization initiatives (e.g. webinars, workshops, etc.).
Do you have what it takes to rise to the challenge?
- Bachelor’s degree in administration or a relevant field related to sustainable development;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role; experience as a research administrator or in an advisory role in a higher education institution is a great asset. Relevant experience in website management and project management;
- Excellent knowledge of the research community, research, and development, action research, and intersectoral research; knowledge of funding programs is a great asset.
Desired skills
- Fluency in oral and written English (advanced level);
- Leadership and versatility;
- Good knowledge of the following subjects: the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), socio-ecological transition, the social and environmental dimensions of innovation, and action research (including intersectoral and interdisciplinary research);
- Sense of organization and planning, thoroughness, and strictness;
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Aptitudes in scientific writing and scientific popularization (an asset);
- Knowledge of the sustainable development ecosystem both in research and in the field; knowledge in the operationalization of sustainable development (an asset);
- Relational and interpersonal skills;
- Team spirit, collaboration, initiative, and commitment;
- Ability to work on different projects in collaborative mode, in a dynamic environment in constant evolution (an asset).
- Excellent negotiation skills and resilience to stress.
It should be noted that the successful candidates will have to take a language test in relation to the requirements of the position.
