Engagement Coordinator
The Conservation Council of New Brunswick has been working on environmental issues in New Brunswick since 1969 as a registered charity and an environmental non-profit organization. We have a small, dedicated team of staff who work closely together.
This role supports the Conservation Council’s mission by creating and nurturing long-term relationships with communities, schools, organizations, and individuals to drive meaningful participation in environmental programs and advocacy.
Reporting to the Director of Education and Engagement, the Engagement Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to foster and strengthen relationships between the Conservation Council, community members, partners, and stakeholders.
This role involves developing, coordinating, and delivering community outreach initiatives, public engagement campaigns, and collaborative events that raise awareness of key environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity, and conservation. A significant focus of this position will be building networks that empower New Brunswickers to take climate action and environmental stewardship into their own hands.
Duties include:
Engagement and Outreach
- Community engagement, build and maintain relationships with community groups, schools, businesses, and organizations to increase awareness of the Conservation Council’s mission and goals.
- Campaign coordination, design, implement, and evaluate public engagement campaigns that inspire action on climate change, environmental literacy, biodiversity, and conservation.
- Event planning, organizing, and facilitating events, workshops, and public forums that engage the community in environmental education and activism, ensuring alignment with the Conservation Council’s strategic priorities.
- Stakeholder relationships, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including artists, government agencies, other nonprofits, and funders, to further the reach and impact of the Conservation Council’s programs.
Program and Initiative Development:
- Partnership building and collaboration with external partners to develop joint initiatives that promote environmental education and advocacy across the province.
- Help create and sustain a province-wide network of environmental advocates, educators, and community leaders, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration.
- Collaborate with the communications team to create outreach materials, social media content, podcasts, and digital campaigns to increase community engagement and participation.
- Plan and facilitate workshops, webinars, and events on topics such as climate action, biodiversity, sustainable energy, and conservation practices, tailored to specific community needs.
- Program impact tracking through the use of surveys, data analysis, and participant feedback to measure the impact of engagement initiatives, and provide regular reports to the Director of Education and Engagement.
- Support the preparation of funding applications to secure resources for community engagement projects and initiatives.
Conservation Council Responsibilities
- Collaborate with co-workers to achieve shared project goals and meet deadlines.
- Regularly update the Director of Education and Engagement on the progress of community engagement efforts, including monthly reports to the Board.
- Participate in staff meetings, strategy sessions, and team-building activities.
Contribute to the planning and execution of the Conservation Council’s fundraising activities, including events, letters, and campaigns.

Working Conditions:
- Hybrid Working Environment
- Travel is required.
- Overtime may be required.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors under a wide range of conditions.
- Must be willing to have (and must pass) a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sectors Check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license within Canada.
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: $30-$35 per hour
Expected hours: 30 hours per week
Work Location: Hybrid with some travel

Flexible language requirement:
- Preference is given to bilingual candidates (English & French).
- Knowledge of a Wabanaki language is an asset.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, communications, community development, or a related field (Master’s degree is an asset).

- Proven experience in planning and executing public events, campaigns, and engagement strategies.
- Experience with digital engagement tools and social media platforms is an asset.
