Associate Organizer
Dogwood is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit organization working in the unceded Indigenous territories known as British Columbia. We currently have two openings for temporary Associate Organizers over the Spring/ Summer. These can be full-time or part-time positions at $22/hour for up to 12 weeks.
As part of the team you’ll get to
- Collaborate with our team of Dogwood organizers in their work to decarbonize, decolonize and democratize B.C.
- Support Dogwood’s Lower Mainland staff Organizer as needed, including outreach work, community engagement, conducting organizing trainings, and working shoulder-to-shoulder with volunteers at events
- Take part in Dogwood staff meetings, contributing insights to inform organizational strategy and decision-making
To be considered for this position, you need to:
- demonstrate an understanding of Dogwood’s campaigns and a commitment to the organization’s mission and values;
- be comfortable talking to people in person, over the phone, and online using social media;
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Other personal strengths, knowledge, lived experience, training or aptitudes in the areas of organizing, campaigning, community-building, volunteer management, using Nationbuilder, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or other or specialized technical/digital skills would be considered additional assets in this role and we encourage you to highlight them in your application.
