Conservation Programs Specialist II (2-year term)

What You Will Do
In this position, you will provide support to the Boreal Conservation Programs team to deliver projects and build relationships with academic and industry partners, communicating wetland science and advancing conservation and stewardship activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Supporting partnerships with the forest industry, contributing to projects such as stewardship plans, literature reviews and best management practices.
· Assisting in proposals and planning wetland conservation projects.
· Supporting the monthly distribution of Wetland Knowledge Exchange newsletters and related events.
· Participating in meetings, workshops, webinars and conferences.
· Assisting in engagement and extension activities including developing infographics and delivering presentations at workshops, field demonstrations, etc.
Who You Are
You have excellent oral and written communication skills, a proven track record of fostering relationships with project partners, and a comprehension of boreal wetland functions & values, with some knowledge of ecology and hydrology.
Your 3 years of experience in wetland and/or forest ecology (or related discipline), along with a demonstrated ability to successfully support, manage, and deliver on conservation projects/events with multiple stakeholders make you the ideal candidate for this position.
Requirements
· Diploma or BSc in forestry, ecology, hydrology, or natural resource management field
· Appreciation of boreal wetland ecology and hydrology, applying this knowledge to communications products
· Project management skills, including prioritizing and managing time effectively, executing project deliverables, conducting occasional fieldwork and reporting activities
· Engagement and extension experience in an environmental role, comfortable communicating scientific information to diverse audiences
· Able to work effectively both in a team and independently
· Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
· Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) or similar
· Familiarity with scientific instruments such as wildlife cameras, autonomous recording units, dataloggers, met stations, drones, etc. would be an asset for this positon
· Experience with digital media content creation (e.g., designing brochures and infographics, editing photographs, videos, managing website and social media content) would be an asset for this position
· The successful candidate will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.
