Wetland Conservation Specialist
The Opportunity
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), one of Canada’s leading conservation organizations is looking for a smart and dynamic Wetland Conservation Specialist to fill a permanent full-time position in our Quebec office.
The Wetland Conservation Specialist will primarily be responsible for the development and delivery of wetland conservation projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Delivery of conservation projects on schedule and on budget
· Participation in the search for funding for the conservation program
· Work closely with the various government and private partners
· Prospecting for potential wetland restoration sites
· Management of service contracts with consulting firms or contractors
· Writing of technical and financial reports
You are a self-motivated individual with a positive, “can do” attitude, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You are a reliable team player with strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills will make you a great asset to our team.
You are an energetic collaborator and has the ability to cultivate solid relationships with many people.
Requirements
· University degree in environmental science in particular; among others: biology, agrology, forestry
· Minimum of two years of experience
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French; English an asset.
· Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and ESRI
· Knowledge of the Law on the conservation of wetlands and bodies of water
· Available for travel anywhere in Quebec and hold a valid class 5 driver’s license
· Ease of writing and spirit of synthesis
· Having a passion for conservation, the environment or the outdoors would be a definite asset; experience in the non-profit and/or environmental conservation sectors would also be an asset.
