Youth Advisory Council Coordinator (2 year-term part-time position)

What You Will Do
You will provide an engaging, professional and quality experience to the youth council members and serve as the liaison between the Youth Advisory Council members and the national education team, while also providing support to education programs through the development of educational materials. In this position, you will:
• Provide administrative support to the Youth Advisory Council.
• Organize and administer DUC- led meetings.
• Address members concerns resolve interpersonal conflicts, and record feedback on the program.
• Coordinate and organize the science, leadership, and diversity and inclusion training, and event and travel arrangements for the members of the Youth Advisory Council.
• Ensure members are on track with scheduled outcomes.
• Research and develop educational materials to support DUC education programs.
• Support other DUC education program needs as they arise.
Who You Are
You have excellent organizational skills and can synthesize complex information into simple and effective communication for a K-12 audience. Your exceptional communication and interpersonal make you a great fit for this part-time (21 hours/week), two-year term position.
What You Will Bring
· Experience supporting a council, committee, board, or other assembly of people (preferably youth).
· 3-5 years’ experience writing educational resources or summarizing complex information or communicating to the public, a creative mindset, enjoy working in a team and independently.
· Experience using online meeting platforms to hold virtual meetings and discussion sessions.
· Experience resolving interpersonal conflicts (preferable youth).
· A Bachelor’s degree in environmental or natural sciences, education, writing, or a combination.
· A good understanding of ecology and biology principles.
· Bilingualism in French and English – oral and written.
· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS, and Forms)
· Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Must be amenable to work some evenings and weekends to meet council members’ schedule across Canada.
· There will be some travel required.
· Available to start on November 15, 2021.
