Program Coordinator – Healthy Landscapes Program
The Healthy Landscapes Program (HLP) at fRI Research is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter with a strong science background and proven partnership building and communications skills to assume the role of Program Coordinator (PC).

Under the auspices of fRI Research, the HLP boasts a partnership of more than 30 partners from across Canada, and has become a leader in Ecosystem-Based-Management (EBM) implementation through a combination of research, stakeholder dialogue, outreach, and
demonstration. The Program is now shifting towards a greater emphasis on multi-stakeholder demonstration projects that a) interpret and integrate research, and b) require robust and active partnerships. Towards addressing this new direction, the HLP is seeking someone who
can:
1) Provide leadership on science-based projects,
2) Assemble and lead multi-stakeholder project teams,
3) Oversee and support core research projects conducted by external agencies,
4) Clearly communicate, and bridge between, concepts and detailed research findings,
5) Develop, submit, and manage their own project ideas consistent with the Program vision and partner needs,
6) Facilitate the training and knowledge sharing of research outcomes and tools developed to assist partners in the effective implementation of research findings,
7) Work closely with fRI Research’s Communications Program to perform outreach functions that enhance partner and public understanding of EBM,
8) Provide ongoing expert advice and guidance to HLP partners, and,
9) Help with ongoing needs as regards Program level administration, coordination, planning, general communication, contract and sub-contractor management, budgeting, new project proposals, and managing HLP Activity Team meetings.
- Is This You?
• An understanding of forest land management challenges and opportunities in Canada
• Experience as / propensity to be a partnership builder, negotiator, and/or facilitator
• Excellent two-way communication skills
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills
• A BSc and MSc in some combination of environmental / biological sciences, geography, and communications / facilitation. A PhD is advantageous
• A minimum of five years of experience in the natural resource management and/or partnership development fields
• Familiarity with EBM principles and applications is an asset
• Being able to bridge between science theory and research outcomes is an asset
• Strong critical thinking is an asset
• Experience with any of the following technologies is an asset: GIS, R, web-design software, modelling, spatial statistics, web design, graphic design, social media platforms.
Details
Work location and work schedule is negotiable. We are offering a guaranteed one-year contract in the range of 75-95k/year, plus benefits, to
start, and renewable for at least three years. The initial salary level will be based on experience and qualifications. There is opportunity for substantial professional advancement for the successful candidate.
