About Us:
Established in 2009, Giles Restoration Services Inc. (GRS) is a leader in ecological restoration, specializing in invasive species management across southern Ontario. Based in Norfolk County, we tackle large-scale projects in both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, including Canada’s largest invasive Phragmites management program.
At GRS, we use specialized equipment and best practices to restore native plant communities. Our team is passionate about biodiversity conservation and thrives in challenging environments, from hummocky wetlands, to thorny thickets, and open fields.
Who We’re Looking For:
We need a dedicated, hardworking individual with a strong ecological background and a willingness to work in demanding field conditions.
Key Qualifications (Must-Haves):
- Valid Ontario Pesticide Exterminator License
- Valid “G” Class Driver’s License (experience towing trailers is an asset)
- Hands-on experience applying herbicide
- Strong plant identification skills (native, invasive, and Species-at-Risk)
- Comfortable working long hours in challenging conditions (inclement weather, rough terrain, insects, etc.)
- Willingness to travel for multi-night fieldwork in remote locations
- Experience operating ATVs and off-road vehicles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum two seasons of fieldwork experience
- Post-secondary education in horticulture, forestry, ecology, or environmental science
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and confident in independent fieldwork
Additional Assets:
- Chainsaw certification
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card
- ATV training
** Contract goes until November 2025 with the option for extension
** Year-Round work is available
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a plant identification walkabout in a natural setting.
Candidate must be able to start by May 5th 2025
