Student Head Lifeguard
We are looking for an energetic and responsible student that wants to be part of our team connecting people to the environment through outdoor experiences. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, work outside in an inspiring setting and gain valuable work experience.
The Head Lifeguard position reports to the park superintendent and is responsible for leading a lifeguard team and providing a clean and safe recreational area for visitors.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that all lifeguarding and safety procedures are adhered to.
2. Support the supervision of up to 16 Lifeguard staff.
3. Help support the Superintendent with scheduling, training and assessing staff performance.
4. Maintain a safe, clean pool, pool deck, surrounding area, washrooms and changerooms.
5. Have proficient knowledge of emergency procedures and use of equipment.
6. Enforce pool and park regulations.
7. Responsible for reporting all incidents/accidents and concerns to the Superintendent or designate.
8. Complete the daily pool log sheet, including pre-opening checks, pool maintenance and scheduled water checks.
9. Follow GRCA policies and procedures.
10. Frequent sanitization of work areas and following GRCA’s COVID safe working policies.
Qualifications:
1. Must be currently enrolled as a full time student.
2. Current National Lifeguard Certification required.
3. Minimum 3 years experience in lifeguarding.
4. Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License (G2 or G).
5. Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and problem solving skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Must possess Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
8. Familiar with the Grand River Conservation Authority and park policies.
9. Ability to take initiative and lead within a team environment.
10. Must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
Work Period: May to Labour Day 2022
Pay Rate: $19.25 per hour
Shift: Weekends, Day and Evening Shifts, Statutory Holidays
Up to 40 hours per week
Successful applicants must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be available to work all assigned shifts for the duration of the season,The GRCA offers comprehensive health and safety training.
