Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) invites applications for the position of Research Data Analyst based in Inuvik, NT. Under the guidance of the Research Manager, the Research Data Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the IRC has efficient/effective access to research data, tools, summaries, and analytical products. The Research Data Analyst will focus primarily on expanding Inuvialuit capacity and knowledge of statistical information related to social, cultural, education, health, economic and geospatial data relevant to the IRC.
Key Responsibilities:
· Access, assess and prepare (clean) administrative and survey data sources for statistical/geospatial analysis.
· Conduct statistical/geospatial analysis and respond to data requests.
· Provide statistical summaries, reports, and visualizations for diverse audiences.
· Improve awareness, use and availability of Inuvialuit statistical and geospatial data related to the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.
· Participate as a team member on analytical aspects of research projects.
The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education, experience, and knowledge:
· Undergraduate degree with a specialization in statistics, or highly quantitative discipline (e.g., social or data sciences, geospatial sciences). Masters in a related field is preferred.
· At least 2 years of experience analyzing statistical data sets, producing summary statistics and research reports.
· At least 2 years of experience preparing/cleaning datasets.
· Strong proficiency in the use of statistical tools, algorithms, models, and software (e.g., R, SPSS, ArcGIS, Stata etc.).
· Strong understanding of legal, privacy and confidential requirements (policies, legislation and, sharing arrangements) surrounding data issues.
· Excellent communication skills for clearly presenting analysis and interpretation of statistical information.
· Strong knowledge of various data types, sampling methodologies, data systems and databases.
· Experience working with various types of data and preparing them into usable formats.
· Knowledge of data storage, and metadata procedures.
