Research Data Coordinator
Working with IRC’s Innovation, Science and Climate Change division, the Research Data Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) has efficient/effective access to research data, tools, summaries, and analytical products. The successful candidate will focus primarily on expanding Inuvialuit capacity and knowledge of statistical information related to social, cultural, education, health, economic and other data relevant to the IRC.
Key Responsibilities:
· Identify, access, and develop datasets and administrative data sources.
· Conduct statistical analysis and respond to statistical and data requests.
· Ensures that current, consistent, and accurate information is available for on-going policy & program development for the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation.
· Participates as a project team member on the analytical aspects of research projects.
· Promote the effective use of statistical and geospatial information related to the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.
The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education, experience, and knowledge:
· Undergraduate degree with a specialization in statistics, or highly quantitative discipline (e.g., economics, data science, social sciences). Masters in a related field is preferred.
· At least 2 years of experience analyzing statistical data sets, producing summary statistics and research reports.
· At least 2 years of experience preparing/cleaning datasets.
· Strong proficiency in the use of statistical tools, algorithms, models, and software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS, ArcGIS etc.).
· Strong understanding of legal, privacy and confidential requirements (policies, legislation and, sharing arrangements) surrounding data issues.
· Excellent communication skills for clearly presenting analysis and interpretation of statistical information.
· Strong knowledge of various data types, sampling methodologies, data systems and databases.
· Experience working with various types of data and preparing them into usable formats.
· Knowledge of data storage, and metadata procedures.
