


In 1986, the Joint Secretariat was established to provide financial, technical and administrative support to the Inuvialuit Game Council and four of the five co-management boards.
The five boards work in turn and collaboratively to protect and preserve Arctic wildlife, environment, and biological productivity. _______________________________________________________________________________
The Joint Secretariat is a not-for-profit organization that operates under a shared services model guided by comprehensive and effective governance policies. We provide a wide range of supports and services to the five renewable resource boards/committees established under the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA).
We are looking to hire an inclusive and collaborative leader to fill the position of Executive Director. Reporting directly to the Joint Secretariat Chair and Board of Directors, you will be responsible for the overall management of the administrative operations of the organization by ensuring that: the policies and directions of the board are carried out; the co-management committees are supported; and our strategic goals are achieved.
As Executive Director you will advise and inform the board on the operations and affairs of the organization. This position ensures that the Joint Secretariat team is unified and are performing in a fair and professional manner in accordance with board policies and directions and all applicable workplace legislation and regulations. You are also responsible to uphold high ethical standards and provide leadership, inspiration, and management of staff and to actively promote a positive organizational environment and culture.

Tell us how you meet the following requirements:
· Exceptional relationship building skills and an ability to quickly establish credibility, trust and presence with key stakeholders including the Chair and board members and community partners and staff across all levels of the organization and Inuvialuit Settlement Region.
· 10+ years in progressively advanced senior executive roles culminating with at least 5 years leading at or near the top of an organization.
· Collaborative and inclusive leadership style yet can be decisive and firm when required.
- Preference will be given to persons who have worked with indigenous organizations.
- You are driven to continually improve and to support others with similar ambition to do the same.
- You have an ability to quickly assess and confirm complex situations through effective listening, consultation, data analysis and analytical skills.
- You are a strategic thinker who can operationalize conceptual or abstract direction into action
- You are an exceptional technical writer who is able to deliver clear, concise reader focused reports
- You have experience balancing new demands and directives with existing priorities and available resources
- You delegate and empower staff
- You respect the people you work with and lead with integrity and expect the same of others
- You have a graduate or post-graduate degree level of education in environmental and business or public administration.
- Preference is given to those who have knowledge of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement.
Preference will be given to Inuvialuit beneficiaries under the Inuvialuit Final Agreement
