Executive Director
The Saskatchewan Irrigation Projects Association (SIPA) was established in 1996 with a mandate to represent the interests of the membership with a common voice for irrigation in Saskatchewan. SIPA’s mission is to promote to all citizens the values and benefits of irrigation for provincial growth, social and economic well-being now and into the future. Dedicated to the expansion of irrigation in an environmentally sustainable manner, SIPA ensures the optimum use of Saskatchewan’s water resources. With support for growth and expansion from the provincial government, SIPA is seeking an Executive Director to energetically lead the organization to drive the expansion of irrigation projects in Saskatchewan which translates into an exciting future for the irrigation industry.
As the Executive Director, you report to the Chair of the Executive Committee and work closely with the Board of Directors, which is comprised of irrigators from across the province, and provide leadership to SIPA to ensure that the mission and vision are operationalized. Utilizing strong business, advocacy, and marketing skills along with administration experience, you ensure the long-term viability and success of the organization through membership, funding agreements, and grant proposals.
With a background in agriculture, an understanding of the irrigation sector, and a forward-thinking approach, you enhance the positive image of SIPA in the community through networking, presentations, and building and maintaining strong relationships among irrigators, districts, suppliers, government, media, environmental organizations, and other stakeholders. You are a skilled communicator, able to clearly articulate the goals and objectives of the organization, while engaging all stakeholders in implementing those plans and managing conflict.
With an eye to the future, you ensure that SIPA acts as an information source for stakeholders, collaborate with and support irrigation research, and assist in disseminating research to irrigators throughout the province. You assist in the expansion of irrigatable acres and travel throughout the province and periodically nationally and internationally to promote Saskatchewan’s irrigation opportunities.
To prepare you for this opportunity, you may have a degree in Agriculture, Environmental Engineering, Commerce, or 5-8 years of progressive leadership experience including financial and business planning and working with a Board of Directors. Irrigation industry knowledge is a significant asset. This is currently a five-year contract position that may develop into a full-time opportunity.
