NRSI is currently looking to hire a qualified individual with primary expertise in plant identification, botanical inventories, wetland delineations, and Ecological Land Classification (ELC) surveys. The successful applicant will be based out of the Waterloo, Ontario office. This is a full-time permanent position with a flexible start date in May 2021.
The successful applicant will have skills and experience in the following areas:
· B.Sc in Biology or Environmental Sciences. Similar experience will also be considered.
· Experience and the ability to plan and complete surveys related to vascular plant identification, inventories, wetland boundary delineations, and Ecological Land Classification surveys.
· Certifications in ELC and the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES) are assets but not necessarily required.
· Additional experience in the following will be considered an asset, but is not necessarily required: experience completing surveys for pollinators/insects, herpetofauna, birds, and mammals.
· A desire and demonstrated ability to work independently.
· Demonstrated experience in report writing, data entry and analysis.
· Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
· Willingness to work potentially long hours under variable field conditions as well as work on weekends and/or statutory holidays occasionally.
· Physical fitness, as some field work for this position will be physically demanding.
Position Type: 1 Full-time Permanent Position [approximately 40 hours per week, including travel]. A 3-month probationary period to assess performance and on-going work availability.
Duration: May 2021 (date flexible) – Ongoing
Location: Field sites throughout Ontario
Key Requirements: A valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and ability to work remotely
Salary: $24 – $30 per hour [commensurate on training and experience]*
*Permanent staff also receive additional compensation through annual profit sharing, benefits, and RRSP matching.
