Seasonal Outreach Assistants
The OWC is seeking 4 outgoing, dynamic leaders to assist with restoration projects and support our education and engagement efforts in the headwaters of the Oldman Watershed. The aim of OWC’s Engaging Recreationists project is to raise awareness about watershed issues and encourage backcountry users to adopt sustainable solutions. These exciting positions require exceptional communications skills and a willingness to engage in hands-on stewardship actions.
Reporting to the Education Program Manager, Outreach Assistants will work full-time from May 4 to August 28, 5 days/week with 2 consecutive days off (e.g. Sunday-Monday). The positions are based in downtown Lethbridge (1-2 days per week), while the remaining 3-4 days will be spent travelling throughout the headwaters of the Oldman Watershed engaging in backcountry surveys, restoration, stewardship, and outreach activities. Many (but not all) weeks will involve 1-2 nights of tenting at Provincial Recreation Areas. Some camping gear and a truck will be provided.
Bonus! If funding permits, Outreach Assistants will also conduct stream sampling; training (CABIN Field Technician certification) will be provided – a great addition to your résumé!
Salary : $19-21/hour, depending on qualifications and experience, at the discretion of the OWC. A per diem will be provided for days when camping out is required, to help cover the cost of food and camping gear.
