Communications Service Coordinator
This is an 8 week contract position sponsored by the Canada Summer Jobs Program, and assumes 35 hours per week @ $16.50/hour.
- The Candidate will create a communications plan for the OIPC to support/ensure timely, consistent message delivery to all external stakeholders across all platforms to increase engagement, including the development of an annual (seasonal) calendar to support content development.
- Review OIPC’s external communications (email, website and social media), making recommendations and implementing change as approved.
- Create a “newsletter” type document template for member/external communication (OIPC has not published a newsletter for over 3 years due to staffing constraints).
- Create, publish the OIPC newsletter on an agreed upon schedule. Publish (determine the best method of distribution/communication and implement).
- Review OIPC’s 2 websites (www.OntarioInvasivePlants.ca and www.OPWG.ca), recommending and implementing changes to support the communication plan, implement as approved. (familiar with WordPress)
- Review and update existing information/resources (documents and videos) to align messaging, ensure consistency of format and ease of access. Implement changes as approved.
- Update Websites to include 2021 Conference and AGM materials (hosted January 2021) by creating video content from recordings, posting presentations and materials as presented (latest studies, management techniques, and projects demonstrating invasive plant management) to make this information accessible.
- Assist with other tasks/projects within a small business environment as directed.
Eligibility: Qualify for the Canada Summer Jobs employment program.
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
