How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

Field Staff, Development & Engineering Services work as part of a flood infrastructure preventative maintenance crew, conducting various field operations, routine maintenance work and general construction duties on TRCA’s dams, channels, berms, and other flood control structures.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists with maintenance and construction work at TRCA’s flood infrastructure and hydrometric gauging locations conducting vegetation removal, debris removal, sediment removal, and other tasks.
  • Operates power tools such as, but not limited to, chainsaws, line trimmers, drills, concrete saws, pumps, and generators.
  • Operates fleet trucks, trailers and UTV’s to carry out maintenance projects.
  • Assist with maintenance of equipment and vehicles, perform daily vehicle circle and other health and safety checks.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning.
  • Assists with flood infrastructure inspections.
  • Assists with installation and maintenance of TRCA’s hydrometric gauging network.
  • Incumbents may also be assigned other duties.

What will you need to succeed:

Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)

  • Minimum pursuing post-secondary diploma or degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or a related field
  • Valid Class G2 driver’s license

Knowledge/Skill/Ability – Competencies

  • The ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in a field environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
  • Under the guidance of their supervisor, prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related Regulations and legislation
