Location: Remote from home in Canada (National office is based in Montreal)

and to one another, from coast to coast to coast, through accessible and inclusive outdoor activities. Through
collaboration and partnerships, we build, maintain and steward Canada’s national trail – a unique collection of
urban and rural trails.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join Trans Canada Trail (TCT)! The Trail Project Coordinator (PC) reports to the
Manager, Trail Development and will assist in components of the TCT Tourism Strategy, Roadway Conversion
Plan, Capital Improvement Plan and associated objectives. The PC is responsible for a portion of the coordination
and implementation of the projects undertaken or funded by TCT.
This position operates from either the Montreal head office once it reopens, currently closed due to COVID-19
pandemic, or a home-based office. If home-based office, selected candidate must have reliable internet service.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Administration
• Support the Manager with the implementation of projects and annual plan deliverables
• Collaborate with the Manager to develop applicable annual plans and budgets
• Contribute to the successful completion/achievement of project goals
• Provide administrative support
Project Management
• Provide recommendations on project implementation, including data collection for the TCT National
Approach to Trail Classification, roadway consultation and conversion priorities
• Support the Manager with the roll out and promotion of the TCT National Approach to Trail Classification,
roadway consultation and conversion priorities
• Receive and review contribution applications, project documentation, progress and final reports
• Monitor the progress and ensure the management of projects, with special attention to schedule, budget and
reporting to appropriate staff
• Research and assist in the development of new projects and partnerships
• At the discretion of the Trail Development Manager(s), initiates and leads identified projects
Trail Stakeholder Relations
• Work with applicable ministries and agencies to facilitate the roadway conversion plan, TCT National
Approach to Trail Classification, TCT Tourism Strategy and Capital Improvement Plan
• Attend events and meetings, and conducts Trail visits as required
• Maintain strong, coordinated, and positive relationships with project partners, local trail operators, provincial
and territorial partners, stakeholders, and the public
• Provide TCT with information on issues affecting visitor experience, tourism, recreation and active transportation
• Liaise with groups to identify new projects and funding opportunities
Planning and Budget
• Collaborate with the Manager to develop applicable annual plans and budgets
Staff and Leadership
• Communicate and support other TCT departments and staff
• Ensure TCT recognition is in place for all assigned projects
• Participate in regular staff and Trail team meetings as required
Other
• Other job-related tasks as assigned
Qualifications & Skills Required
• University degree or equivalent in the tourism or recreation related field
• Minimum 2 years related experience in tourism, recreation or community engagement
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills; the ability to speak and write French is a strong asset
• Related project coordination experience
• Experience in recreational tourism, trail design including multimodal and active transportation, and
stakeholder relations
• Good understanding of national and provincial realities, politics and recreational offerings
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external partners, stakeholders
and agencies
• Ability to communicate complicated, potentially controversial, and timely messages, when faced with
multiple issues
• Creative problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently
• Results-oriented and derives satisfaction from achieving milestones
• Ability to manage conflicting demands by establishing priorities
• Ability to travel as required
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Salesforce, GIS and mapping systems
• Flexibility and availability in terms of work hours
