Land Use Planner 1
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is currently accepting resumes for up to two permanent, full-time positions of Land Use Planner 1.
Responsibilities
The Land Use Planner I will process applications under the Planning Act, respond to general inquiries related to planning and assist the Planning Coordinator and Planner II as needed. Responsibilities support the implementation of the Authority’s municipal land use planning and inquiry services. Through these programs the Planner I is responsible for contributing toward achievement of the UTRCA’s Ends including the protection of life and property from flood and erosion, protection and improvement of water quality, and the protection, enhancement and restoration of natural areas. Qualifications (Skill)
Education, (degree, diploma, certificates, licenses)
· A degree in Planning, Geography, Resource Management, Environmental Science or closely-related field.
· Membership or eligibility for membership with OPPI and CIP.
· Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Drivers Licence required.
Experience
· Minimum 1 year related experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Ability
· Familiar with the Planning Act and other relevant legislation.
· Knowledge of stormwater management, principles of flooding, erosion and natural heritage features and functions.
· Strong air photo/aerial imagery interpretation skills.
· Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Proficient in the use of standard office software including Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, database and information management software.
· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with diverse stakeholder groups including the community, governments, consultants and agencies at a political and staff level;
Compensation and Other Information
$31.86 to $38.75 per hour – 35 hours per week
OMERS Pension Plan, Comprehensive Group Insurance Plan
Start Date: as soon as possible
