Water is paramount, both to life and all we do in Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Growth Plan specifically recognizes that our province’s continuing agricultural and economic development will depend upon effective water management and adaptation, including increasing irrigation capacity in Saskatchewan.
The Lake Diefenbaker Irrigation Projects will have a province-wide impact now and for years to come. WSA will play a key role in the water management expertise needed to build these projects.
Up to 500,000 acres of new irrigable land will be created, providing Saskatchewan and Canada with unparalleled food security as well as the opportunity for producers to diversify into high value table crops.
The projects are building blocks for regional economic development. Many producers, related business and communities will benefit from new value-added opportunities to their operation, and it will create more development and jobs in all sectors from processing to transportation.

Are you passionate about doing meaningful work? Do you care about water as one of our most important resources? Water Security Agency is seeking a Director, Irrigation to join the Irrigation Development team.
As a Director, Irrigation you will provide direction for irrigation projects including the Lake Diefenbaker Irrigation Expansion Project. The Director ensures compliance with established direction of the organization.
The Director will play a key role in the development and implementation of WSA’s operational plans and budget, and as a member of the leadership team that influences long-term planning, policy development, strategic communications, external relations, and resource allocation.
You will work among a diverse and passionate team of professionals from various disciplines of engineering and contribute to projects that will have an impact province-wide.
As the successful candidate, you will possess a degree in Engineering or similar discipline, eligibility for certification with a relevant Professional Association; and 10 years of progressively more responsible directly related experience. Project Management Certification is an asset.
The role requires extensive knowledge of corporate, crown and government processes requirements and governance best practices.
