Hydrogeologist – Junior / Intermediate

Our organization is a small staff-owned environmental consulting firm employing approximately 20 people in ecological, hydrogeologic and environmental engineering positions. Azimuth has offered consulting services to clients in central Ontario for the past 20 years. Most staff have been employed with the company over the majority of their professional career and many have worked for Azimuth for over a decade. Most senior managers began their career with Azimuth and have enjoyed the opportunity to grow with the organization over time.
We are currently seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist with a P.Geo. designation or eligibility to join our team. The successful applicant will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Hydrogeology or Geology. It is preferred that the candidate have at least 3 to 7 years experience with, land development impact analysis, groundwater/surface water interaction analyses, water balance analyses, groundwater supply testing and analysis, groundwater and surface water monitoring, contaminant hydrogeology and water quality assessment. Responsibilities will include proposal preparation, project management, data interpretation, designing and managing groundwater and surface water monitoring sampling programs, interpreting the collected environmental data and writing technical reports. Applicants must have strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Computer skills include proficiency in the use of MS Word and Excel as well as experience with other hydrogeological software (aqtesolv, rockworks, etc.).
The preferred candidate is expected to work independently and/or with other project managers / technical experts on various projects. Previous experience with project management and report writing are key skills required for this position
This opportunity will allow the individual to oversee smaller to medium sized projects and contribute to larger multi-discipline assignments depending upon the experience and capabilities of the individual. The preferred candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be capable of overseeing the day-to-day project management including reporting, client liaison, budget management and staff scheduling. As such, previous experience must include project management and report writing.
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with candidate’s qualification.
