Gregg McLachlan, founder, WorkCabin.ca

Many job boards that scrape postings from the web are simply prioritizing volume, without actual permission from employers. This creates confusion for employers (“How did our listing end up there?”) and false hope for job seekers: Resumes coming from unauthorized job board websites may be treated as spam. WorkCabin does the opposite. Fewer jobs, posted with care, by employers who actually want to be here… so when you apply, you can do it with confidence because employers post here, to find candidates here.

In late 2025, WorkCabin retired job seeker accounts and its resume database after providing 30 days’ notice on our home page, with the change taking effect on December 29, 2025. As the way people search for work continues to evolve, this shift allows WorkCabin to focus on clearer job postings, more direct connections, and new features better aligned with how hiring works today. For employers, this change does not reduce the visibility or reach of your postings. Job listings remain central to the platform. For job seekers, it means a simpler, more transparent experience built around discovering opportunities and applying, rather than managing accounts. Like the sectors we serve, WorkCabin continues to adapt with intention so the platform stays relevant, useful, and grounded in real-world hiring.

WorkCabin started small and stays that way on purpose. I’m all about helping employers reach the mission-aligned people who genuinely care about conservation… folks who are actually right for your job, and giving job seekers the confidence that they are applying from a well-respected conservation job board and longtime partner with conservation employers. For employers who post here, it’s not about getting a mountain of resumes; it’s about making the right connections that actually matter. I hope you read about my unique story here and the genuine connection to the conservation field.

You won’t see hundreds of listings on WorkCabin and that’s by design. We don’t scrape jobs from the web to inflate numbers. We work directly with employers in conservation and environmental work, which keeps the listings more relevant for the people who use the site. Every job you see at WorkCabin has been posted by the employer (or approved HR team). When you apply through WorkCabin, you can trust that the role is genuinely connected to the field and posted with intention. That means your application is more likely to be seen by an employer who actually wants to hear from conservation-minded candidates.

I wish it could be.

WorkCabin takes real time, care, and ongoing investment to run well… from moderation and verification to keeping the platform focused on conservation values. Charging for postings is what allows this ecosystem to exist and be sustainable, stay independent, and serve the community thoughtfully.

No worries. WorkCabin is not trying to be LinkedIn which likes to use the slogan: Everyone belongs here.
That’s not WorkCabin. In fact, WorkCabin is not for everyone. I say: If conservation matters, you belong here.

A simpler way to say it is LinkedIn is a megaphone.
WorkCabin is a campfire.

People don’t change the world around megaphones.
They do it around campfires.

Yes! Call or text anytime at (519) 429-3729. I’m happy to help employers. Please remember, though, during field seasons I’m often in the muck with biologists. But I will always get back to you as fast as I can. If you text during field seasons, I can usually be even faster, unless I’m out of cell service range.

WorkCabin is a small, hands-on operation, and much of my work happens out in the field. While I’m not able to offer individual calls with job seekers, I’ve invested heavily in clear, human-written resources that reflect the questions people ask us most often. My goal is to give you the answers you need, without leaving you guessing. I hope that’s helpful.

WorkCabin is a niche site, which means it’s about quality over quantity. You’re not going to get a giant pile of resumes from every hopeful job-seeker out there. Instead, you get people who actually have the skills and experience you’re looking for.

That said, no job site can control the market. Sometimes the timing, competition, or the economy affects how many candidates are actively looking. Even then, the folks who do come through WorkCabin are the right ones….so while the pile may be smaller, it’s far more relevant.

Sorry, no “Various Roles” or “Summer Staff – All Positions” shortcuts! Each posting gets one job title.

If you have multiple positions, create a separate ad for each. It keeps WorkCabin afloat and stops job seekers from hunting for a needle in a haystack…because nobody likes that.

WorkCabin job postings are no longer automatically syndicated to Indeed by design.

Over time, some employers shared that they were surprised to see their WorkCabin postings appear elsewhere, particularly when applications were being routed through systems they hadn’t chosen. Based on that feedback, we made a deliberate decision to keep applications direct and transparent.

This ensures conservation organizations remain in control of their hiring process, and job seekers apply through the channels intended by the employer.

Most freezes happen when the logo doesn’t meet our size requirements. Keep it under 0.5MB and make sure the width and height are 550px or smaller—and you should be good to go.

Think of it like packing light for a hike: small and lean works best!

Refunds aren’t on the menu, but making things right always is. If you need a hand before submitting or have questions about your posting, I’m here to help.

To keep things safe from viruses, I don’t allow attachments in job postings. The good news is my online form makes it easy to create and edit your ad directly on the site—no extra files needed.

I’ve got you covered with a FREE Repost Guarantee. If you need to repost a job ad or extend the deadline within 60 days of the original posting, just reach out to me at nature@workcabin.ca I’ll take care of it.

After 60 days, reposting is treated as a new ad, and standard rates will apply.

Log in to your Account Centre, hover over the job title you want to update, and the word “Edit” will appear. Click it, and you’re good to go!

I give every job posting a quick once-over before it goes live to keep the quality high. Usually, your ad will be up within an hour. But if I’m out in the field working with biologists or filming, it might take a few extra hours—hey, nature waits for no one!

If you don’t see your ad within 24 hours, drop me a line at nature(at)workcabin.ca and I’ll make sure it’s online pronto.

Absolutely, yes. WorkCabin is fully secure and handles transactions directly on our site. We accept VISA or Mastercard.
