WHY WORKCABIN

THE RIGHT PEOPLE. NOT THE MOST.

Because finding someone who shares your mission matters more than getting a crowd

Most conservation employers use multiple platforms when hiring… and for good reason. Today, hiring challenges affect almost every sector, making it harder to find the right candidates quickly.

Large, general platforms like LinkedIn offer broad visibility and familiarity. Purpose-built platforms like WorkCabin focus on alignment, community, and shared values. Every posting submitted here is personally handled by me.

Gregg McLachlan, founder, WorkCabin.ca

Hi, I’m Gregg. I started WorkCabin 19 years ago because I wanted to help conservation organizations and job seekers connect in a way that actually matters. There isn’t a single platform that’s ‘better’. Each one has its purpose. Large, familiar platforms like LinkedIn can get your posting in front of lots of eyes. WorkCabin is different: I personally review every listing to make sure it reflects why people come to WorkCabin.ca: To find meaningful and quality opportunities to work in conservation across Canada.

Sometimes you may want to use multiple sources.

WorkCabin is entirely employer-supported, and has been since 2007.

The goal here isn’t to declare a ‘winner.’ It’s to give you a clear sense of what each platform does best and help you pick the right tool(s) for your hiring needs.

Thanks for stopping by… and for caring about nature.

Reach vs. Alignment

Hiring for conservation isn’t only about reaching the most people.

It’s about reaching the right people — those who already care about the mission, the work, and the realities of the sector.

Different platforms support different goals.
