Opportunity

We’re looking for several enthusiastic and resilient Outdoor Educators to join our team in Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie for the spring field season!  As an Outdoor Educator you will present forest and/or wetlands education programs directly to students at various outdoor field sites across Alberta throughout May and June. This is a great opportunity to build your facilitation and presentation skills while working alongside a team of passionate and dedicated educators!

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary studies in education, science, environmental, or related fields.
  • Experience teaching or leading outdoor groups, working with students, and/or delivering education programs.
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years of age as of the position start date, due to our vehicle insurance, have a valid Driver’s License and have a clear abstract (vehicle not required).
  • This position may be partially funded through employment grants; therefore, candidates must be between 21-30 years of age by the position start date.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C first aid certificate by the position start date. Additional safety training is a desired asset.
  • Remote First Aid or Wilderness First Aid is required for the positions based in Calgary.

  • You are a flexible, resilient, and good-natured travel companion. Due to our work at different field sites around the province, frequent travel including overnights and evening/weekend overtime, is required (time-off-in-lieu provided).
  • You enjoy interacting with students of all ages.
  • You have a well-rounded understanding of the science and issues related to Alberta’s natural resources and environment.
  • You’re a natural at storytelling and creativity and can identify and capitalize on teachable moments.
  • You have a willingness to learn new information.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent movement of storage bins weighing up to 40 pounds from storage space to vehicle.
  • Daily movement through varied terrain at outdoor field sites for 80% of the work day.
  • Frequent travel in company owned or rental vehicles involving overnight stays at hotels for several nights in a row.
  • Daily work in outdoor weather conditions with potential exposure to seasonal allergens.

Wages and Term

This is a 9-week, full-time term from April 27 to June 26, 2026. Wages are $26.00/hour based on a 36.25-hour work week, plus 6% vacation pay.
