The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority is accepting applications for the following position:
Conservation Areas Technician
The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority requires an individual responsible for the maintenance and development of Authority owned lands and buildings. This position works out of the Ganaraska Forest Centre, 10585 Cold Springs Camp Road, which is located in the 11,000-acre Ganaraska Forest, north of Port Hope, Ontario.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintenance of all Conservation Authority owned lands and buildings including but not limited to Conservation Areas and administration offices.
- Assist with operating, monitoring and maintaining two small drinking water systems at the Ganaraska Forest Centre.
- Responsible for coordinating maintenance on the Authority’s vehicles, including maintenance and assistance with small engine equipment.
Qualifications
- Degree or certificate in related discipline and/or equivalent experience is required.
- Excellent communications skills and ability to work with the public.
- Ability to adapt to an environment of change and work well independently as well as in a team environment.
- Experience with small drinking water systems.
- Chainsaw operator certification would be an asset.
- Ontario tree marking certification would be an asset.
- Capable of physically demanding labour.
- Willing to work in all weather conditions.
- An up-to-date criminal record and judicial matters check is required.
- A valid Province of Ontario drivers licence is also required.
Salary
$57,300 – $64,700 per annum.
