The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority is accepting applications for the following position:
Conservation Lands Technician
The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority requires an individual to assist with the maintenance of authority owned lands. This position works out of the Ganaraska Forest Centre,10585 Cold Springs Camp Road, which is located in the 11,000-acre Ganaraska Forest, north of Port Hope, Ontario.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintenance of all Conservation Authority owned lands including but not limited to trail maintenance and site rehabilitation in the Ganaraska Forest
- Provide assistance to the Ganaraska Forest recreation program
- Assist with forest management including but not limited to tree marking
Qualifications:
- Degree or certificate in related discipline and/or equivalent experience is required
- Applicants should have excellent communications skills and ability to work with the public
- The successful applicant must be able to adapt to an environment of change and work well independently as well as in a team environment
- Experience with using ESRI based mobile applications
- Chainsaw operator certification would be an asset
- Ontario tree marking certification would be an asset
- Applicants must be capable of physically demanding labour
- Applicants must be willing to work in all weather conditions
- An up-to-date criminal record and judicial matters check is required
- A valid Province of Ontario drivers’ licence is also required
Salary
$57,300 – $64,700 per annum.
