HIGHLIGHTS:Lead invasive plant species control team
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise invasive species removal and pesticide application projects in compliance with Ontario regulations and company standards.
- Conduct detailed site assessments to identify invasive species, environmental conditions, and treatment requirements.
- Develop tailored treatment and management plans using appropriate pesticide products and mechanical removal strategies.
- Utilize and oversee the safe use of hand tools, power tools, forestry machinery, land-clearing equipment, and pesticide application equipment.
- Train and mentor team members on invasive species identification, pesticide application techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Schedule work assignments, allocate resources, and optimize routes for efficient service delivery.
- Drive company vehicles to project sites in compliance with all driving regulations.
Prepare quotes, generate invoices, and maintain accurate client records. - Maintain detailed documentation of pesticide applications, site assessments, equipment usage, inventory, and environmental conditions.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and safe for operation.
- Communicate professionally with clients to explain treatment plans and provide recommendations for ongoing land management.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and stay current on industry standards and legislative changes.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Experience
- Post-secondary education in forestry, ecology, environmental science, or a related field or equivelant experience.
- Minimum three (3) years leadership experience in invasive species control or pesticide application.
- Valid Ontario Forestry, Aquatic, and Landscape Exterminator Licences held for at least three (3) years.
- Strong knowledge of invasive plant identification and control methods.
- Thorough understanding of Ontario pesticide regulations, safety protocols, and environmental compliance standards.
- Demonstrated experience conducting site assessments and developing treatment plans.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (report writing, client communication, team leadership).
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Proficiency with scheduling, invoicing, and digital record-keeping systems.
- Valid Ontario G driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Background in pest control, lawn care, landscaping, forestry, farming, agriculture, or environmental restoration an asset
- Experience operating forestry and/or farm machinery or specialized land management equipment an asset.
