The Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association is a non-profit, community based registered charity. Located in the northern tip of the United Nations designated Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve, we build community commitment and capacity in conservation and sustainable development while achieving concrete goals. Despite being rated as the second most important area for conservation in the Bi-National Sweetwater Sea report, there is no Conversation Authority. The Biosphere Association has stepped in to fill this stewardship and conservation gap. Our volunteer Board of Directors represents diverse members of the community including environmentalists, farmers, business owners, teachers and students. Using a citizen scientist approach we work with community volunteers and our academic and government advisors to make measurable improvements in the water quality of streams and Lake Huron, forest connectivity, invasive species control, wetland restoration, shoreline naturalization, and preserving dark skies. Our work also increases the understanding of our unique natural systems.
