Environmental Sustainability Coordinator
Langley City is positioned in a rapidly growing area strategically located in Metro Vancouver and has a vibrant community spirit and an inspiring vision of being “The Place To Be” now and in the future. Langley City has all the amenities of any urban centre in very close proximity: great shopping, over 346 acres of parkland, world-class educational institutions, and entertainment facilities. Skytrain has been approved to be extended to the City within the very near future.
The City seeks a full-time Environmental Sustainability Coordinator to carry out technical, regulatory, educational, and inspectional work coordinating the development and implementation of environmental programs at the City. The successful candidate will implement measures to mitigate the environmental impacts of development and growth, and will promote the sustainable consumption of resources in accordance with the City’s environmental initiatives.
The Environmental Sustainability Coordinator will implement and coordinate a wide range of environmental initiatives including research and environmental studies, coordinate the services of consultants, act as a City representative and liaison on internal and external committees regarding environmental matters and will prepare and present educational information to a variety of groups and complete quality project control reviews within the municipality, review development applications for compliance with environmental bylaws, and conduct related site inspections.
The ideal candidate for this role has strong interpersonal and communication skills combined with considerable knowledge of the policies, regulations, standards, bylaws and objectives related to environmental work.
A Bachelor of Science in Biology, Environmental Science or graduation from an Institute of Technology in Environmental Science plus considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desired. A valid full-privilege Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required. RATE OF PAY: Pay Grade 29: $43.54 to $46.30 (2021 C.U.P.E. rates)
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
