Community Relations and Marketing Manager
Long Point Basin Land Trust is seeking an experienced and qualified individual to join our small but mighty staff in the position of Community Relations and Marketing Manager. You will use your passion for nature and marketing skills to execute strategic marketing plans, manage events, lead volunteers and liaise with the vibrant communities that make up our catchment area. This is a permanent, full-time position for someone interested in making a community relations and marketing career with an enthusiastic team dedicated to protecting and conserving the vital biodiversity of our 15 (and growing!) nature reserves.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and carry out an annual communications and marketing plan for the organization.
- Plan, organize, market and attend Explore the Outdoors events with a goal to increase the number of events and participants each year.
- Prepare optimized content for print and digital materials: outdoor signage, website, newsletters, campaign materials, as well as content for social media, events, and ads.
- Prepare and distribute Long Point Basin Land Trust’s monthly E-Newsletter.
- Assist the Senior Development Manager with communications and marketing materials to support the organization’s fundraising endeavours including the creation of the cause for support for various programs.
- Assist the Senior Development Manager and Land Stewardship Manager with communication and marketing materials to increase the organization’s volunteer pool and keep them engaged.
- Schedule and represent the organization at community outreach activities and events.
- Take the lead but work in conjunction with other staff to organize the annual Volunteer and Donor Appreciation event.
- Assist the Executive Director with establishing a rapport and maintaining long-term relationships with private landowners.
- Plan and host events to recruit new and steward existing landowners.
- Share responsibility with the Senior Development Manager for preparing and attending board Development Committee meetings.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience in marketing, communications, public relations and/or event management with demonstrated success.
- Superior English-language verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking; experience in the development of both print and digital materials.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; effective at managing multiple priorities and deliverables with competing deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to initiate and coordinate numerous activities with minimal supervision and an adept problem solver.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
- Experience developing online content for platforms such as, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
- Event planning experience.
- Basic knowledge of environmental conservation practices is an asset.
