Assitant Park Manager Cultus Lake Provincial Park
Sea To Sky Parks is currently recruiting for an Assistant Manager to work at our Cultus Lake Provincial Park location. Sea to Sky Parks is a subsidiary of Mt Seymour and operates as a contractor for BC Parks, we operate a number of Campgrounds, Provincial Parks and Day Use Areas in the Sea to Sky Corridor and Fraser Valley.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Assistant Park Manager role is a hands-on position which assists the Park Manager with the overall operation of the park on a daily basis. Duties include overseeing and directly participating in facility maintenance in accordance with the Quality Control Plan, public safety & park security, administration tasks and the supervision of a team of park employees.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Compliance with all Sea to Sky Park Services policies and procedures
· To follow Sea to Sky Park Services contractual duties outlined in the Park Use Permit
· Oversee and assist with facility cleaning and maintenance in accordance with the Quality Control Plan
· Assist with the hiring, training and supervision of a large team of park staff
· Evaluate and set work priorities
· Maintain regular communications and positive working relationship with Area Manager and BC Parks
· Maintain a safe and positive work environment
· Inspect all park facilities to ensure standards are being met
· Monitor what’s going on in the park
· Ensure park facilities are maintained to park standards
· To ensure the safe use of all required machinery and equipment
· The identification of minor maintenance requirements for all equipment utilized such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers etc. and either conducting the maintenance or ensuring maintenance is carried out by contractors.
· Supporting the Paddle Sport rentals and concession as needed during its Operating Season
· Ensuring that all park visitors and staff have the best experience possible
· Accurate and detailed park record keeping regarding park usage, duties to be performed and tasks to be completed
· Ensuring minimal human-bear interactions
· To help conduct a regular inventory of products used and to report shortages
· Order park supplies as needed
· Ensure park compliance and security by ensuring parkland areas are patrolled and ensuring that guests are abiding by the campground and park usage guidelines.
· Other related duties as required
Skills & Abilities
Experience with hiring, training, management and supervision of staff
Previous experience with POS systems, cash handling, shift auditing and working within a budget
Previous experience working in an outdoor work environment
Proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Office programs; general computer and office equipment knowledge
Excellent written and oral communication, team participation, and coordination skills
Ability to deal with emergency situations in an effective manner
Knowledge of parks and/or grounds maintenance methods and the ability to safely and effectively operate and maintain a wide range of hand tools, power tools, vehicles and equipment
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Ability to work independently in remote locations
Resourceful
Knowledge of the Park Act and the ability to gain voluntary compliance and defuse confrontational situations in an effective manner
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Must be able to walk up to 5 kms per day
Bending, lifting, carrying of materials
Standing up to 8 or more hours per day
Qualifications:
Completed or Enrolled in an undergraduate degree or technical diploma in natural resource management, outdoor recreation or a related field
WHMIS/ Occupational Safety knowledge or certification
Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 (course available through Sea to Sky Parks)
Criminal Record Check
Valid BC Drivers License & Abstract required (work truck is provided during shift)

Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required – hours of work will vary with the season
Own vehicle will be required to travel to and from the park
