Who we are
Wilton Consulting Group is a consulting firm based in Fergus, ON. We facilitate sustainability and innovation in the agri-food sector and rural communities. · Hosting engaging workshops and conducting research on topics like greenhouse gas emissions, agriculture in a net-zero economy and soil health
· Developing recommendations to inform agricultural sustainability programming across Canada
· Completing sector-specific projects including social and economic impact analysis and strategic planning
Who we’re looking for
We seek a Research Analyst to join our small, dedicated team. You will support with desk research, data analysis and stakeholder engagement. Together with your colleagues, you will brainstorm creative approaches to solving complex problems and develop strategic approaches for research and engagement processes. You will also assist with preparing plain-language reports and presentations.
You are highly organized and detail oriented. You also have strong communication, project management, and time management skills. You will professionally represent Wilton Consulting Group and our clients in the Canadian agri-food industry. You are an enthusiastic self-starter who is equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team. You have an entrepreneurial attitude to thrive in a collaborative consulting environment.
Research & Stakeholder Engagement Responsibilities
· Supporting with literature reviews and environmental scans
· Assisting in the planning and execution of stakeholder engagement opportunities, such as interviews, surveys, and workshops
· Drafting plain-language reports, including synthesizing findings from desk & stakeholder engagement research, and drafting action-oriented recommendations
· Contributing to project management
Business Development Responsibilities
· Supporting with proposals
· Assisting with blog posts and other company communications
· Additional support as requested on new projects and administrative tasks
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agriculture/natural resources management/sustainability/food systems or related field; preference given to a master’s degree in a relevant field
Advanced experience using MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, as well as Zoom
Competent using GSuite including Gmail, Calendar and Google Meets platforms
· Strong research and writing skills
· Demonstrated ability to write in plain language
Passionate about innovation and sustainability
Familiar with the Canadian agri-food sector
Strong organization, planning and time management skills
Quick learner who is self-motivated and directed
Able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in an organized, efficient, and detail-oriented manner
Able to multitask and jump in on many different projects within a similar topic/focus
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team setting
Must show an interest in innovation, sustainability, agriculture, and agri-food
Must have strong interpersonal skills to communicate with team members, clients, and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of projects in a time-sensitive environment
· Project management experience and/or certificate is an asset
· Experience writing grant applications, evaluation reports, and research summaries is an asset
