Communications Specialist
Bird Studies Canada is seeking a Communications Specialist for a new position reporting to our Communications and Public Affairs Manager. The Communications Specialist will develop, deliver, and support a variety of communications, media, and public relations functions.
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours/week
Location: Port Rowan, Ontario preferred. Other locations in Canada considered for the right candidate.

Compensation: $39,000-$45,000/year
Responsibilities:
• Develop and deliver communications products. Draft and edit texts (e.g., for newsletters, website, marketing materials) and coordinate translation as needed.
• Perform national media relations and social media activities. Draft and edit media releases and social media posts, prepare related products, and support media relations initiatives.
• Draft communications products in support of membership development and fundraising.
• Support outreach initiatives such as events for members and the public, and collaboration on joint projects and promotional opportunities.
Qualifications:
• Degree or diploma in communications, public relations, or related field.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Communications and editing experience.
• Additional training and/or experience in public relations, marketing, media relations, social media.
• Interest/background in conservation, natural history, science.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.
• Fluency in French would be considered an asset.
