Reporting to the Outdoor Education Supervisor, the successful applicant to this position will:
• work with other Outdoor Experiential Education staff to deliver educational programs at the sites;
• collaborate with other Outdoor Experiential Education staff to develop creative and innovative programming in outdoor experiential education;
• have and share knowledge of and interest in the environment and outdoor education activities (i.e., flora and fauna identification skills, knowledge of forest management and the Niagara escarpment, outdoor survival skills and orienteering, GPS, low ropes, an interest in local Niagara history, etc.)
• participate in further training and certifications as needed to remain current and innovative in outdoor and environmental education;
• communicate effectively with students and teachers as well as other adults;
• maintain Outdoor Education facilities and equipment (including making minor upkeep and repairs).
Qualifications: • Applicants must hold a CAAT diploma in Outdoor Education, Environmental Education, or equivalent. Preference will be given to those with a Bachelor’ s degree in Outdoor Education, specialization or related degree. • A valid driver’s license and First Aid certification is required. • Prior experience working with school-aged individuals in a related setting is preferred.
• Provision of a satisfactory Police Clearance including vulnerable sector screening from the last 6 months (or ability to obtain one) is a condition of employment.
