Wetland Operation and Maintenance Coordinator
Position Details: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Starting salary at $52,700, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual’s education and/or experience as it relates to the position.

What You Will Do
As a member of the Manitoba Habitat Asset Management Team (HAM), you will be responsible for delivering operation and management of water control structures on various DUC projects in the Saskatchewan River Delta. You will be working with Indigenous communities, provincial representatives, watershed districts, public stakeholders, and external partners.
You need to be an enthusiastic team player – a self-starter who can work with anyone, is capable of seeing the bigger picture and enjoys thinking out of the box. You have confidence assisting in wetland inspections, maintaining field equipment, operating small engines, physically lifting 50lbs of equipment, writing biological reports, and working as a team in a remote environment. Prior experience with equipment maintenance, mechanical ability and remote field work will be a strong asset.
You are an effective communicator who can build positive working relationships with the current HAM team, various staff of local governments, indigenous communities, landowners, industry, agricultural producers and Federal Fisheries and Oceans Canada. You will possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. You have experience in project planning and execution, financial and contract management. You are self-motivated, enjoy a complex, changing environment, working with various external landowners and partners and can manage numerous projects on tight deadlines.

Requirements
- An environmental or biological science diploma is preferred but other diplomas in related disciplines will be considered.
- Strong planning, reporting, and project management skills.
- Knowledge of sustainable and integrated resource management including local agricultural, industry and conservation practices.
- Experience with GPS and MS Office suite
- Awareness of MB Occupational Health and Safety practices.
- Ability to work long/flexible hours outdoors, with possible travel.
- Excellent organization, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
- A valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Comfortability driving, maneuvering, and backing up vehicles and vessels.
- Pleasure Craft Operators Card, ATV, Chainsaw, WHMIS 2015, MED A3, and SDV-BS experiences or certificates would be assets.
- Practical experience working around water control structures, operating and maintaining small engines, supervising construction and heavy equipment, managing wetland and upland conservation projects, working with Indigenous communities, and any involvement in agriculture or biology would all be considered assets.
