Intermediate Ecologist
EcoTec is currently looking for an Intermediate Ecologist for their Acton office.
Responsibilities
· Manage and participate in the preparation and completion of technical reports and evaluations, Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Studies
· Work as a leader or as a team member to conduct comprehensive investigations of natural heritage features including vegetation, wildlife, fisheries, and species at risk
· Compile background data, establish terms of reference, prepare for site visits, enter and maintain data
· Represent clients at site meetings and site visits
· Provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with current Federal and Provincial legislation
· Lead and assist in the development of project proposals and budgets
· Provide environmental inspection services for both government and private construction projects
Qualifications
· University graduate with at least five years` work experience in the environmental field
· College Diploma or Graduate Certificate in a related discipline an asset
· Certification and/or previous experience with inventory and monitoring protocols (Ecological Land Classification, Ontario Wetland Evaluation System)
· MTO/DFO/OMNR Fisheries Protocol Training an asset
· Identification skills and knowledge of Ontario flora and fauna and associated habitat
· Experience as an environmental inspector, including knowledge of relevant sediment and erosion control measures (OPSS) and the federal Fisheries Act
· Excellent working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation and policy, including the CEAA process
· Excellent report writing and analytical skills
· Strong communication and organization skills
· Ability to work effectively as a team or independently
· Able to travel and work outside normal working hours, where necessary
· Able to conduct field investigations throughout Ontario, in all weather conditions
· Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license
