Forests Ontario, working with its partners, is dedicated to the renewal and stewardship of Ontario’s forests. The goal of the organization is to support and promote forest restoration, stewardship, education and awareness initiatives.
Job Description:
The Events Coordinator will be responsible for delivering and support organizing and reporting on all of Forests Ontario Events. These events may include, but are not limited to, community tree plants, Annual Conference, Toronto Christmas Market, education-based events, staff meetings/outings, education and outreach events. The Events Coordinator will work alongside all departments within Forests Ontario to ensure that events are delivered in a professional and efficient manner, fulfilling all contractual obligations between Forests Ontario and our partners.
Duties/Responsibilities:
o Implement and coordinate a variety of project-related tasks that pertain to the planning, implementing and reporting for events
Provide onsite event coordination and supervision including set up, onsite execution, and tear down
o Liaise with event attendees, sponsors, venues, suppliers, vendors, partners, volunteers, co-workers to ensure clear and consistent communication, and requirements are addressed and met in a timely manner
o Scheduling and coordination of events with team members
Support the development of project related products and promotion material in conjunction with fellow staff members
Ability and flexibility to travel at various times throughout the year as required
Flexibility with respect to working hours; able to work additional / varied hours / on weekends, as required
Qualifications:
o University Degree or College Diploma in Science, Education, Events Management or relevant work experience
o 2-3 years event coordination experience for an array of events (i.e. conference, engagement events, awareness promotions, workshops, meetings, etc.)
o Experience implementing and planning events in excess of 100 people
o Attention to detail and through follow though on commitments
o Bilingual speaking proficiency in English/French is considered an asset
Skills:
o Extremely organized, with time-management skills and be able to multitask
o Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
o Able to effectively communicate relevant project information to peers and vendors with a high level of accuracy
o Inclined to take ownership of a project and follow through to completion
o Computer savvy – proficient in Microsoft Office, online meeting and event applications and CRMs.
o Strong customer service capabilities
o Comfortable working on a project both in a team atmosphere and independently
o Able and willing to do hands-on work as required
o Ability to meet deadlines on a timely manner
o Responds well under pressure
o Dedication and interest to the environment
Employment Type: 8-month, full-time contract (Nov – June), with possibility of extension
Salary Range: Commensurate on years of relevant experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position.
